Meet the Photographer

Hi, My name is Mary Elise Bryant

Somewhere along the way, I realized something really beautiful about photographs: they are one of the only ways we get to hold on to the people we love forever. Moments pass quickly, seasons change, and life moves forward, but a photograph allows us to pause time. When I take a photo, I know I’m capturing something that will exist long after the moment itself has passed — a smile, a laugh, a look between two people who love each other. These moments become pieces of someone’s story that can be returned to again and again, which is something I take very seriously.

My love for photography actually started very early in my life because of my late grandfather, who I was incredibly close to. His home was like a museum of our family’s history. Every wall held photographs, and he had these wonderfully thick photo albums filled with pictures of our family going all the way back to the early 1900s. Sitting and flipping through those albums allowed me to know relatives I never had the chance to meet. Through those photographs, their stories lived on. My grandfather loved documenting his family through pictures and videos, and when I was six years old he gave me my very first digital camera. I didn’t realize it then, but that small gift would grow into a lifelong passion. Looking back now, I think that’s where I first understood just how powerful photographs can be.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m actually an English teacher. Every day I spend my time helping students understand stories — how moments, details, and emotions come together to create meaning. That perspective naturally finds its way into my photography. I don’t just look for poses; I look for the story unfolding in front of me. The quiet in-between moments, the laughter, the connection, the light.

While I take the responsibility of capturing these memories seriously, I also believe the experience should be joyful. I love creating a comfortable and uplifting environment where my clients feel relaxed, confident, and able to simply be themselves. Some of the most beautiful photographs happen when people forget the camera is even there. Whether we’re chasing golden hour light, wandering through downtown streets, or celebrating a milestone with the people you love most, I’m honored every time someone trusts me to capture their moments.

Because at the end of the day, photographs aren’t just pictures — they’re what we share with our children and grandchildren, they're what will one day memorialize us at the end of our lives, they're pieces of life, suspended in time forever.
