Name one thing a photographer enjoys more than one lighting set...

Some photo sessions just feel like magic from the moment they begin, and this one in downtown Montgomery was exactly that.

This shoot was extra special for me because I had the chance to bring along some new photography gear—new lighting and a softbox that I had been so excited to experiment with. There’s something about trying new tools that brings out a fresh sense of creativity, and the streets of downtown Montgomery ended up being the perfect backdrop.

We wandered through the city as the evening light softened, stopping wherever inspiration struck. Parking decks, glowing streetlights, textured walls, and quiet corners of downtown all became part of the story. The lighting setup allowed me to create a soft, editorial glow that felt cinematic and timeless while still keeping the photos playful and natural.

And the outfit? The little black dress moment was everything. It brought such a classic, confident energy to the shoot—effortless, stylish, and a little flirty. Paired with the city lights and movement of downtown, the whole session felt like a scene straight out of a movie.

What I loved most about this session was how relaxed and fun it felt. We laughed, experimented, and leaned into the spontaneity of the city around us. Those are always the sessions that produce the most authentic images—the ones where everyone is simply enjoying the moment.

Downtown Montgomery has such a quiet charm after hours, and getting to capture that atmosphere while testing new creative lighting techniques made this shoot one I won’t forget anytime soon.

Sessions like this remind me why I love photography so much. It’s not just about the images—it’s about the experience, the creativity, and the memories made along the way.

And this one? It was young, fun, a little flirty, and absolutely unforgettable.
